The city of Saharanpur is one of the most prominent cities of western UP and for a long time it has been lacking a building which represents the city’s rich culture and provides an opportunity to show case the wooden handicraft work, which the city is famous for. To promote diversity and culture, Saharanpur Smart City Ltd. proposed to construct a Habitat Centre at the site of the old bus stand, which is now redundant.

This Habitat Centre is designed to cater to the retail market for wooden handicrafts. It also provides exhibition spaces and conference facilities for exporters, foreign and local buyers. These functions are supplemented by food courts, offices and a banquet Hall. The building flanks a landscaped central plaza providing a much-needed public domain for community gathering and it can also transform into a temporary exhibition space.

The Habitat Centre is deigned in such a way that an extension of the building is possible when required. It has been designed using smart solutions as per the mandate of the Central smart city mission.
