The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti runs Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, a system of central residential schools for talented students predominantly from rural area in India. The Samiti has regional offices all over India headed by Deputy Commissioner. We are currently working on the permanent office proposed for the Pune region. The site is situated in Pune, Maharashtra.

A masterplan has been prepared for the overall site area of 1.97 acres, which would include this Regional Office along with training institutes, hostels and residential blocks. The first phase includes only the Regional Office. The site has been developed in two levels to respond to the existing site conditions and to minimize the cutting and filling at site.

It is a fully air-conditioned building with a central open landscape court, which is visible from all corridors of the building. A library and a canteen are proposed on the ground floor which directly connect with the central court and activate it. The building has been designed using several passive sustainable design techniques to reduce the energy load. It also has active sustainable design measures to minimize the wastage of water and to keep the indoor environment clean and healthy.
